It was Maestro Masur who gave me the greatest compliment from any conductor ever and who was the inspiration for this blog.
We were rehearsing the viola section solo in Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony when Maestro Masur stopped and said to the section,
“FRIENDS. YOU ARE ZO KALT, BEHIND ZIS CHOT VOMAN!”
